Pontifical Biblical Institute (PBI)
The Pontifical Biblical Institute in Jerusalem was founded in 1913, as an opportunity for the students and faculty of the Institute in Rome to further their studies with a particular focus on the geography, history and archaeology of the Holy Land. The present premises were inaugurated in 1927. The Institute continue to serve as a study centre in Jerusalem, offering courses for students of the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, and the Pontifical Gregorian University, as well as formation programmes for members of the Society of Jesus.
