The Legal Office of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land (ACOHL) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the conference titled “Legal Challenges in Property, Labor Law & Banking.” Held on Friday, June 28, at the Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center, the event was attended by 90 participants representing various congregations and Catholic institutions.
The conference commenced with an opening speech by His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem. In his address, Cardinal Pizzaballa highlighted the importance of the legal office as a reference point for legal aid and advice, also the importance of understanding and navigating the unique legal issues faced by Catholic entities in the region.
The conference featured three main sessions:
- Session I: Property Management & Challenges presented by Adv. Zaki Sahlia, which covered property rights, transactions, and tax property issues.
- Session II: Labor Law Enforcement also led by Adv. Zaki Sahlia, focused on labor regulations according to the applicable Israeli Labor Law.
- Session III: Banking with Mr. Abdallah Qa’war, Mercantile East Jerusalem Branch Manager, who discussed banking related issues, fees and transactions between Israeli and non-Israeli banks.
Participants had the opportunity to gain valuable insights and practical guidance on these critical topics, ensuring that Catholic entities are well-informed and legally protected.
We extend our gratitude to all attendees and speakers for their contributions to the success of this event. The Legal Office of the ACOHL remains committed to providing ongoing support and resources to the Catholic community.
